Issues
I am offering my service to the citizens of Davis because I am concerned about the future of our community. As a UC Davis alumnus raising my young family here, I want to carefully plan future growth, promote fiscal responsibility, and improve public services. I care about preservation of our neighborhoods, quality of life, and the success of our local businesses.
My vision for the future of Davis includes:
- A Vibrant Economy: A downtown commercial center that builds upon Davis' unique, small-town character, complemented with neighborhood shopping opportunities to meet community needs.
- Planned Growth: A planned city that grows slowly and carefully, only after broad citizen input, and with respect for our existing neighborhoods.
- Natural Resources: A city that sets the standard for open space, environmentally sustainable development, and agricultural and habitat preservation.
- Recreation: A city with well-maintained parks and greenbelts, and recreational opportunities for both young and old.
- Youth: A city that nurtures, supports, and celebrates our youth by providing safe activities and places to learn, bike, and play.
- Fiscal Health: A balanced budget that supports the services that make Davis special.
- Safety: A city where police and fire personnel are provided with the equipment and support to respond to community needs.
- City-Community Relations: A community where citizens trust and respect their civic leaders and agencies, and public participation is encouraged and valued.
- UC Davis Relations: A city that embraces students as community members by addressing their unique concerns, and encourages a positive and productive relationship with UC Davis administration.
- Technology: A city that ensures our infrastructure and services keep pace with the technological needs of our citizens.
- Tolerance: A united community whose citizens respect and embrace our diversity – not only socio-ethnic diversity, but diversity of thought and points of view as well.
