VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Do you have an hour or two to spare? Just once a year, once a month or once a week? NAMI-Yolo has many opportunities to help in many programs. Some need a lot of people just once a year. Other needs are ongoing.

Volunteers are the core of our organization. Please lend a hand and help NAMI-Yolo continue to offer the education, advocacy and support that is so important to the individuals and their loved ones in our community who live with mental illness.

Volunteer Needs

Graphics Design
Help create flyers, posters etc. to publicize activities and events.

Drivers

Drivers are needed to help mental health clients get to doctors appointments, and various activities.  Our goal is to develop a list of volunteer drivers who can help with driving as the needs arise.

Advocacy

  • Advocacy/ committee work

  • Legislation Analysis

  • Attend local mental health-related meetings

Outreach

  • Membership drive: Winter

  • Religious Outreach

  • Fundraising and/or grant writing

  • Mailings

  • Monthly Potlucks - Setup, Cleanup or coordinate.

  • Writing feature articles for local media

  • Farmers Market & other community outreach

Support

  • Support Groups Leader

  • Family to Family Teacher

  • Peer to Peer Mentor/Teacher

  • NAMI Connection Facilitator / Support Group leader

Yolo CANVAS
A community volunteer network of neighbors helping neighbors to provide supports, services, and activities that enrich the lives of people living with mental illness. The  goal is to locate or develop activities that allow people to be more fully included in our community.

  • Help coordinate or assist in a 2 hour drop-in at Homestead Coop Housing

  • Help with maintenance, delivery of bikes in the Biking for Wellness program.

  • Become a Community Friend and meet up on a regular basis with someone living with mental illness for friendship, activities, etc.
